Each year, Delaware State University’s Advancement division hosts the HBCU Philanthropy Symposium in Dover , DE. The event gives Advancement professionals serving Historically Black Colleges and Universities the opportunity to meet with peers in other HBCUs, learn best practices, and develop new skills to become effective fundraisers. In addition, the Symposium provides the environment for institutions to network with others to form consortiums in pursuit of funding opportunities.
Our department did a comprehensive suite of promotions for this important event including event promotion, sponsorship promotion, social media, and also a special website for the event that was updated each year.
For this event, I wrote copy for the print and digital promotions, managed email distribution, wrote web copy and updated the Symposium website, and created numerous social media posts. I also managed the designer who produced the graphics and collaborated with him on production and distribution of the print materials.
