Institutional Advancement managed all the major events on campus, so part of my role was managing the marketing for those events. For most major events, we did a combination of direct mail, email and social media marketing. Below are some examples of the event marketing promotions we did in 2019. For these projects, I typically wrote copy and/or edited and proofread copy written by others and oversaw design and production. (Click on the images below to view a PDF of the piece. NOTE: To see social media posts related to these events, see the Social Media page associated with Delaware State University.)

Hats and Gloves Tea
Invitations, posters, eblasts, handbills and social media posts were all part of the promotion for the annual Hats and Gloves Tea, a fundraising event that also honored women who were longtime supporters of the University.

HBCU Philanthropy Symposium
Each year, Delaware State University’s Advancement division hosts the HBCU Philanthropy Symposium in Dover , DE. The event gives Advancement professionals serving Historically Black Colleges and Universities the opportunity to meet with peers in other HBCUs, learn best practices, and develop new skills to become effective fundraisers. In addition, the Symposium provides the environment for institutions to network with others to form consortiums in pursuit of funding opportunities.
Our department did a comprehensive suite of promotions for this important event including event promotion, sponsorship promotion, and also a special website for the event that was updated each year.
